“Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” -Ronald Reagan

Is our silence brought on by fear of social retaliation slowly giving up our freedom of speech to a point where the next generation will no longer have individual opinions? My biggest fear is that if we keep allowing our freedom of speech to be slowly chiseled away we won’t notice when it’s completely gone. If we don’t exercise our freedom of speech now we soon won’t be able to recognize when it goes from being socially silenced to legally silenced.

Do not fall off the edge of the slippery slope. Do not gradually accept communism. Do not be afraid to offend people who infringe upon your freedom of Speech. Do not stay silent while your rights are being taken away.

What will you tell the next generation about Freedom of Speech? Will you describe a relic of the past or will you tell them you proudly protected their rights as freedom fighter?
