Are Conservative Values Really Fading? Not So Fast.
I was at my kid's soccer game last weekend, sweating through my shirt in the Florida heat, when the father next to started on a frantic rant about how America is losing its principles. All due to a wrong call by a referee. Talk about overreacting, right? But, you know what? That guy's outburst made me think... It seems like everyone, everywhere is worrying about how the country is deteriorating and how our traditional values are fading.
But are we actually losing our conservative values? When I look around, I don't think we are. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I understand that those core conservative beliefs are still alive and well; they just don't get as much attention.
Sure, if you only follow the MSM or get your news from social media, you'd believe the entire country has completely abandoned conservative beliefs and traditions. Take a step away from the screen and look around. You'll see an entirely different story.
Take my neighborhood, for example. The Adams next door? They attend church every Sunday and then have the entire family around for dinner. At the age of 80, Mr. Garcia across the street still insists on mowing his grass every Saturday morning. That is the America I know—one that values family, hard work, and independence.
And it's not limited to tiny towns or suburbs. My cousin in Chicago, a liberal hotbed, tells me how many of her friends are starting to settle down, marrying, and talking about having kids. Even in the big coastal cities, it appears that family values are still strong and not, as JD Vance puts it, filled with 'childless cat ladies'.
Now, I am not claiming everything is perfect. We certainly have our fair share of challenges. But every time I think we're at risk of conservative values being completely wiped out, I see something that reminds that the exact opposite is true.
For example, a recent town hall meeting where I live, over the new land development proposal. Instead of yielding to government decisions, our community got together to express concerns and provide solutions. That embodies the American spirit: civic engagement and local decision-making in action.
And what about our belief in the free market? Still going strong. Yes, we debate laws and taxes, but at the end of the day, we all understand that capitalism is what makes our lives possible. While it's not flawless, it has created more wealth than any other system in history.
Here's the kicker: even people who don't identify as conservative frequently hold conservative beliefs. They work hard, support their families, and volunteer in their communities. That is conservatism in action, whether they label it as such or not.
So, the next time someone tells you that conservative principles are fading, tell them to unplug from the matrix.
We will undoubtedly face hurdles ahead. But I have faith in the American people. We have withstood these social hurricanes before, and we will do so again, and again, and again. Because, at our core, we believe in individual freedom, opportunity, and power.
That's my opinion, anyway. Conservative values are not only alive in America; they are the foundation of who we are as a country. And that's something to celebrate.
